Originally a street artist, Mauricio has been working with hair for the last 10 years in New York City. Having the privilege of working with some of the industry’s most talented individuals including Orlando Pita and Laurie Foley - Mauricio has reached a level of experience that-combined with his naturally artistic style - provide him with the ability to create personally customized looks for every client that sits in his chair. Mauricio works with a unique combination of patterns to create his highlights, using the hair painting technique taught to him by the great Laurie Foley.

Mauricio has worked backstage on numerous shows, and always gets his hands dirty during fashion week. He was featured in W magazine as a rising star in 2007 after being trained in a certain method of cutting from Orlando Pita. After having the opportunity to experience the exciting Soho area by attending to and graduating from the Aveda Institute of New York, Mauricio is happy to return to the area by joining the amazing team here at ION Studio.
